Volunteering allows you to continue activism beyond an inciting event and help create real change. Below some great organizations are sorted by state, click on the name to be redirected to the organization’s webpage. National:

GLAAD:

GLAAD works to change the conversation about the LGBTQ+ community, provoking dialogue that leads to cultural change. Volunteers are matched with a program that fits their time available and skills best. All volunteers must be at least 18 years old. To volunteer, visit their website

Human Rights Campaign:

The HRC is working to create equality for LGBTQ people around the world. To volunteer, fill out their application.

The Trevor Project:

The Trevor Project has volunteer opportunities in a wide variety of positions including working with their crisis hotline or helping with their advocacy. All volunteers must be at least 18 years old, and make a one-year commitment. To volunteer, visit their website.

LGBTQ Center Orange County:

The LGBTQ Center OC works to advocate on behalf of the LGBTQ community in Orange County. Volunteers can work in a wide variety of positions including youth programs, and full-time volunteer positions. To volunteer, visit their website.

Boston Alliance of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer Youth:

BAGLY works to support LGBTQ youth committed to advocacy and providing services. BAGLY is youth-led but has adult volunteers, and has many different positions available for all ages. To volunteer, visit their website.
